The online Prints and Photographs section of the Library of Congress is a good place to go to find images from along Route 66. Use “Route 66” as a keyword search and browse the many photographs and their related identification information.

Many great Route 66 images exist in the collection of the Farm Security Administration, held by the Library of Congress, including the renown work of photographer Dorthea Lange. Lange was hired by the FSA in the 1930s to document life during the depression and some of her greatest images caught out of work families traveling the “Mother Road” throughout the draught devastated southwest, looking for work.
