This sample is a fine grained marble. The texture is granoblastic with random grain orientation. Maximum grain size is near 1 mm, minimum is .1 mm, and the modal size is approximately .35 to .5 mm. Twinning of calcite/dolomite is common, lamellae mostly follow rhomb edges, one instance of a bisected obtuse angle, indicating dolomite also noted. Grain boundaries are straight or sutured. Non-carbonate accessory minerals are quite rare (~1-3%) and small with a modal size of .25 mm. Most are uniaxial negative with low birefringence (~.004); apatite or idocrase seems possible given lithological context. These grains appear as distinct crystals with sutured or straight boundaries, not as inclusions. There is no appreciable weathering in this sample or macrostructure such as foliation.
