This specimen is a fine grained marble. The texture is granoblastic with random grain orientation. Maximum grain size is near 1.6 mm, minimum is .05 mm. There is a bimodal distribution in grain sizes with modes around .25 to .1 mm and .75 to 1.25 mm. The larger grains tend to form in clusters with suggestion of linear foliations. Many of these longer grains are elongated, but the patterning is weak. Grain boundaries are mostly sutured, but smaller crystals often have distinct rhombohedral edges. Twin lamellae are rare. Accessory minerals are essentially absent except for very small opaques in the groundmass in a size range near .01 mm. There is no appreciable weathering in this sample. The slight foliation seen in thin section is discernable in hand samples and lacks consistent orientation.
