SUMMARY:41st AIC Annual Meeting in Indianapolis
DESCRIPTION:The theme of the meeting will be the Contemporary in Conservation\, focusing on contemporary approaches to conservation\, not only the conservation of contemporary art\, and will include perspectives from within as well as outside the field. In addition to the treatment of contemporary art\, the conference will consider topics including: current issues in conservation and preservation\, such as digitization\, environmental sustainability or the effects of architectural design on the preservation of objects; current trends in exhibition design and the new challenges they present for preservation including greater physical access\, longer display times and more touring exhibitions. In addition to conservators\, we welcome participation from related professionals. The meeting will feature all-attendee and specialty focused sessions.

SUMMARY:Preservation Institute: Nantucket 2013
DESCRIPTION:Preservation Institute: Nantucket (PI:N) is an interdisciplinary program that exposes participants to the theories and methodologies of international cultural heritage conservation and the research\, documentation\, and management of current and potential World Heritage sites. Nantucket and its historic and natural environments serve as a learning laboratory.  After 40 years of working with local partners to document and preserve the island’s built environment\, the University of Florida and PI:N is leading an effort to nominate the cultural and natural resources of Nantucket to the World Heritage List.  The work of PI:N contributes to this effort.  This summer\, PI:N launches a new initiative which offers students access to 3D laser scanning technology as part of an island-wide\, comprehensive historic resources documentation project. DESCRIPTION:Second National Covered Bridges Conference  June 5-8\, 2013  Dayton Crowne Plaza\, Dayton\, Ohio    Registration is now open    Make plans to attend the Second National Historic Covered Bridge Conference in Dayton\, Ohio\, June 5-8\, 2013. Join a gathering of covered bridge professionals and enthusiasts for four days devoted to saving\, protecting\, rehabilitating\, and celebrating historic covered bridges.    Sponsored by the Federal Highway Administration’s National Historic Covered Bridge Preservation Program\, and cosponsored by the National Park Service’s  Historic American Engineering Record and the USDA Forest Service’s Forest Products Laboratory\, this  event is being held ten years after the First National Covered Bridges Conference in Burlington Vermont. This year’s conference offers a diverse program touching on a variety of themes from rehabilitation process\, strategies and guidelines\, documentation\, analysis\, protection\, new construction methods and materials\, and international covered bridges. SUMMARY:Oklahoma's 25th Annual Statewide Preservation Conference
DESCRIPTION:The State Historic Preservation Office is pleased to offer a special opportunity to college and university students who attend Our Sense of Place: Oklahoma's 25th Annual Statewide Preservation Conference to be held June 5-7 in downtown Perry (full conference registration and program details available in late April).    The SHPO encourages college and university students planning preservation-related careers to attend the conference. So\, we are offering twenty (20) scholarships on a first-come basis to those who qualify. The scholarship covers the conference registration fee\, and the application deadline is 5:00pm\, Friday\, May 10.
