What can you do with mud\, moss\, and water? Learn how French colonists combined these three ingredients to build their houses\, and try your hand at creating “bousillage.”    What lies beneath the surface? Go on an archeological ‘dig’ to uncover artifacts from earlier days and discover our local history.    What happened on the Hill? Follow the clues to discover how Normal Hill changed from a 19th-century convent into Northwestern State University.    What’s in a tombstone? Explore the oldest cemetery in Natchitoches Parish and discover what grave markers can reveal about our past.    Camp will include both inside and outside activities. SUMMARY:Robotics Camp 2013
DESCRIPTION:NCPTT wants to introduce you to the excitement of science and technology through NCPTT’s 2012 Robotics Camp! Get hands-on experience building and programming your own robot. Then have a chance to test your navigational skills against others in the camp. You’ll learn about soldering\, programming\, electronics\, robot assembly\, navigation using sensors\, and more!    [caption id="attachment_7017" align="alignright" width="138"] Register 2013 Robotics Camp[/caption]    NCPTT’s 2013 Robotics camp will be offered July 22-26\, 2013 from 9:00 AM until noon each day at Lee H. Nelson Hall on Northwestern State University of Louisiana’s campus. The workshop is limited to 15 students who have finished the 6th grade through high school seniors. The fee for the workshop is $50.00 due at the time of registration. Scholarships are available.    Your instructor is Mr. Curtis Desselles. He will be assisted by other members of the NCPTT staff. Students will receive a robot kit\, manual\, and certificate of completion.    The workshop is sponsored by Weyerhauser\, the Natchitoches Chamber of Commerce\, and the Friends of NCPTT.

Come join us this summer and be your own scientific sleuth to learn about the culture of early inhabitants of Natchitoches through the pottery shards they left behind. NCPTT is offering a one-day workshop on July 30\, 2013 called “Conservation Scientist for a Day.” You’ll have a chance to study authentic pottery through documentation\, microscopy\, chemical spot tests\, X-ray Fluorescence analysis and more!!! NCPTT instructors will guide you through a series of experiments to learn the science behind the history.    Who: This one day event is offered on July 30\, 2013 to students who have finished 8th grade through Seniors in high school.

SUMMARY:International Cemetery Preservation Summit
DESCRIPTION:NCPTT\, in partnership with the Canadian Ministry of Culture\, will host a two and a half day conference in Niagara Falls\, NY-Ontario\, Canada\, October 8-10\, 2013. The conference will include oral presentations\, posters\, and a half-day field session on the conservation of all aspects of cemetery care and conservation. The conference is open to conservation professionals\, cemetery managers\, board members\, archaeologist\, grounds keepers\, and all who work in and are interested in cemeteries.
