This research addresses the continuing need for new coating strategies to protect outdoor bronzes from the effects of polluted environments.
The goal of the present research is to form general hypotheses concerning how protective organic coatings work and fail on bronze surfaces when exposed to typical polluted, urban environments, and to make recommendations concerning coating practice in outdoor sculpture conservation.
