Preservation Institute: Nantucket 2013

June 3 - July 24, 2013

Nantucket, MA

Event Navigation

Preservation Institute: Nantucket (PI:N) is an interdisciplinary program that exposes participants to the theories and methodologies of international cultural heritage conservation and the research, documentation, and management of current and potential World Heritage sites. Nantucket and its historic and natural environments serve as a learning laboratory.  After 40 years of working with local partners to document and preserve the island’s built environment, the University of Florida and PI:N is leading an effort to nominate the cultural and natural resources of Nantucket to the World Heritage List.  The work of PI:N contributes to this effort.  This summer, PI:N launches a new initiative which offers students access to 3D laser scanning technology as part of an island-wide, comprehensive historic resources documentation project.
