Lansing Community College will offer a one-day, advanced seminar on cast iron repair with braze welding. The advanced braze welding seminar is designed to address the national need for skilled craftsmen in repairing cast iron sections used in heavy industrial machinery and in historic metal structures. This rare hands-on experience in the repair and rehabilitation of heavy machine components and historic cast iron structures provides the knowledge and skills to avoid costly replacements of cast iron sections by using careful application of advance brazing technology.
Instruction provided from a craftsman with over thirty years’ experience in this specialized field will be guided by American Welding Society specifications for brazing and braze welding, and the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation. ISPC Education Scholarships
To advance the craftsman’s legacy in education, scholarships will be awarded in fields related to the preservation of metals. ISPC scholarships range from $100 to $1,000, awarded to engineering, preservation, and industrial arts students to attend the annual Iron & Steel Preservation Conference.
