NCPTT, in partnership with the Historic Natchez Foundation will offer a cemetery monument conservation basics workshop May 11, 2013, in Natchez, Mississippi. The training is targeted to the nonprofessional, such as church sextons, genealogists, cemetery grounds workers, and family members. The workshop registration is $25 per person, this price includes a box lunch.

The lecture portion of the workshop will begin at 9:00 at the offices of the Historic Natchez Foundation (108 S. Commerce St.). NCPTT Materials Conservator Jason Church will be talking about techniques for cemetery documentation and developing a preservation plan followed by a talk on cleaning and care recommendations for historic headstones. After lunch the workshop will travel to Natchez City Cemetery for hands-on activities including proper cleaning techniques.
