Historic Research and Preservation Planning for Cultural Landscapes introduces participants to procedures and methods for documenting and understanding cultural landscapes.  Participants will be able to:

  • State the purpose of cultural landscape research and preservation planning.
  • Identify and define the four possible preservation treatments as outlined in the Secretary for the Interiors Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties.
  • Apply the Guidelines for the Treatment of Cultural Landscapes to cultural landscape ┬ámanagement issues (i.e. what is good practice, poor practice).
  • Identify site-specific research and planning documents that can guide cultural landscape preservation management.
