AASLH announces the 2009-2010 Save Our History Grants.

The Save Our History Grant Program, available to AASLH members and the field at large, provides funding to history organizations that partner with schools on a local community preservation project.

Since launching the Save Our History Grant Program in 2004, AASLH and History (formerly The History Channel) has awarded over $1 million in grants.

During the 2009-2010 school year, History will again award grants of up to $10,000 to historical organizations to fund hands-on, experiential educational projects that teach students about their local history and actively engage them in its preservation.

For guidelines and criteria, important dates, and to apply, please visit http://www.saveourhistory.com/, and click on grants.

Applications are due Friday, June 6, 2009.

Any questions can be directed to info@saveourhistory.com.

Are there going to be any grants available for 2011? If so, when?

    • We have made inquiries but have had no new information about the History Channel’s grants program since 2009.

The 2011 PTT Grants season closed on October 15, 2011. We expect to announce 2011 grant recipients soon pending the approval of the Secretary of the Interior and the availability of appropriated funds.

The 2012 PTT Grants Call for Proposals should be released by September 1, 2011. For information about what we are looking for in grant proposals, please consult the 2011 Call for Proposals and contact us at 318-356-7444 or via email for any questions. One of our program chiefs would be delighted to talk with you about our grants program, the types of proposals we seek, projects we have funded, and so forth.
