User Input to the Grading Program
The program first presents a simple, form-type screen to the user (Figure 9). Thefirst program screen has three input boxes that request the user to select a woodspecies and enter dimensions for the thickness and the width. The dimensionsshould be actual (not nominal) dimensions and should be rounded to the nearest 0.125-inch. The dimensions must be entered as decimals, and can not include any additional symbols or letters.
Once dimensions and species have been entered, a results screen appears (Figure 10) and presents (in table format), four lines of data that include the species group name, the three or four possible grades, the classification type, and the allowable knot sizes and slope of grain for each grade.
