SUMMARYPG. 9

Building on the interdisciplinary nature of historic preservation, the curriculum has been designed to allow students to view academic subjects - science, math, history and English -through the lens of historic preservation. This is done by focusing lesson plans interdisciplinarily on a specific historic object, structure or place (benchmark) that aligns with the progression (pacing) of the history class over the course of the semester. Each of the other academic disciplines are incorporated as they align, in their pacing of the subject matter, to study the forces of benchmarks creation, preservation, interpretation (see pacing schedules on the curriculum CD ROMS).

The remainder of this PD Manual provides examples of documents intended to illustrate the contents of the ensuing onsite professional development program.
